JEAN-FRANÇOIS LAUDA
Jean-François Lauda is a Canadian born artist currently working in Montreal. Lauda has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Canada and the United States. Notable solo and two-person exhibitions include; Darling Foundry, Montreal (2018); Angell gallery, Toronto (2018); Guido Molinari Foundation, Montreal (2018); galerie Antoine Ertaskiran (2017); VIE D’ANGE, Montreal (2016); Romer Young Gallery; San Francisco (2015); Battat Contemporary, Montreal (2013). Lauda was also part of the group exhibition Du Côté de chez Soon (2018), at galerie René Blouin, in Montreal. His works are included in both private and public collections. Lauda is currently working on his second solo exhibition at Romer Young Gallery, to be presented in the spring of 2019.
In his art practice, Jean-François Lauda adopts an intuitive approach to painting. His exploration of raw materials is translated through the slow formal transformations that arise thanks to the experimental dimension of his work process. In exhibiting the deliberate marks of actions of accumulation and erasure, his compositions reveal their own making: traces of regrets, memory of past actions, heterogeneous temporalities.
